WHAT WARPED DOES

The Warped Collective prioritizes the evolution of our making process and culture, and embraces a diversity of creative disciplines and performance traditions. We celebrate each project as a reflection of the individual collaborators involved. We embrace opportunities where technology and innovation might inform our work as storytellers. We curate experiences that are in conversation with our widest communities and our deepest curiosities about the relationship between audience and makers.

Property of Rachel Corrie
April 2021

Property of Rachel Corrie was created as a companion installation in conversation with an audio play adaptation of My Name is Rachel Corrie. Published in 2005, this one-woman play edited by Alan Rickman and Katherine Viner was compiled from the writings, personal journals, emails and private letters of student activist Rachel Corrie before her tragic death in 2003. TWC ensemble members adapted and produced the full length audio piece, and created an interactive experience that invited audience members to privately explore an architectural dreamscape inspired by Rachel’s physical world and her deepest imaginings. Property of Rachel Corrie integrated content from the full length audio play, journalistic accounts of her work as a volunteer in Gaza, and the documented last moments of her life.

Guided
November 2020

The ancient ground beneath current-day Savannah, Georgia came to life with The Warped Collective’s debut of Guided. Accessed via strategically placed QR codes, a cell phone and a pair of headphones, this 45-minute, outdoor journey was enjoyed by hundreds of Savannahians and tourists alike during two weeks in November 2020. This binaural audio experience immersed audience members into the rich historical events and characters of Savannah’s past as they were guided through a tour of Savannah’s infamous squares. Inspired by true stories of historical figures, Guided intended to remind us of those who came before, those who were forgotten and those whose stories were never told.
